The Business Council of Alberta (BCA) welcomes the federal governmentโs decision to repeal the zero-emission vehicle mandate and congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Danielle Smith on the progress represented by todayโs announcement.
BCA advocated for this change through A Strong Canada. A Good Life. and continues to advocate for the repeal of federal policies that are undermining Canadaโs competitiveness. We are encouraged to see the federal government act on these concerns and choose a more practical approach that better reflects affordability, infrastructure readiness and consumer choice.
This announcement is another example of the progress being made between Alberta and Ottawa. However, more work remains to ensure Canadaโs regulatory and environmental policies keep Canadian businesses competitive, attract investment, and support affordability and prosperity for Canadians.
BCA will continue to work with both the provincial and federal governments to create the conditions for a strong, competitive Alberta and Canada.
