A Strong Canada. A Good Life.

A strong Canada and a good life need a strong economy. Now is the time to come together and make it happen; time to get on the right path, the path to a strong Canada. This flagship initiative details the Council’s actionable 2025 federal policy priorities for this pivotal time, and beyond.

A strong Canada and a good life need a strong economy. One that is the envy of the world. One that offers good paycheques and opportunities, nurtures and attracts the best and brightest, and is able to withstand threats and challenges, even from our closest friends. We will always be in a better position if we are stronger, safer, and more prosperous at home.

We have all that we need: the natural resources the world wants, a highly skilled workforce, amazing innovators and entrepreneurs, and an enviable piece of land on this planet.

Now is the time to come together and make it happen; time to get on the right path, become a strong Canada, and offer Canadians a good life.

This is a Defining Moment for Canada’s Future

Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Federal Government are confronted with a critical moment. Canada is facing three overlapping crises—economic instability and affordability at home, trade tensions with the U.S., and global recession risks. Canadians are looking for leadership that delivers both a strong Canada and a good life. There is a window of opportunity, but it is short.

Ten Bold Actions for A Strong Canada and A Good Life

Unleash Canada’s natural resource sector potential including energy, food, forest products, and critical minerals

Champion Canada’s natural resources to the world; develop and implement a national resource export strategy; remove unnecessary regulations; accelerate project approvals and permitting; enable innovation and scaling; address labour shortages; incentivize more Canadian value-added activity; invest in rural broadband; fully include Indigenous Peoples in decisions and equity

Strengthen our military, borders, and arctic defense

Meet our international commitments; secure our border; invest in people and equipment; and develop our resources for use in North American defense manufacturing

Improve trade with the US and the rest of the world
Build major projects and infrastructure

Implement a long-term national trade, transport and digital infrastructure strategy; identify and approve projects of national interest, with immediate approval of those already in the queue; fix the regulatory and permitting approval process and put more power in the hands of the provinces; demand more innovation, automation and performance at Canada’s ports; and establish a national loan guarantee program for new projects

Create pragmatic environmental policy
Make Canada a top-tier technology developer and deployer

Position Canada as a hub for ethical and responsible AI, industrial clean tech, agtech and digital infrastructure by strengthening industry-academic partnerships, modernizing IP laws, and scaling innovation; align patent laws with global standards, invest in top research hubs, and foster regional tech clusters; attract startups and investment through targeted incentives, streamlined regulations, and better capital access
