The Business Council of Alberta (BCA) wholeheartedly supports the launch of the Major Projects Office (MPO) in Calgary, Alberta and commends the appointment of Dawn Farrell, a founder of BCA and one of Canada’s most accomplished business leaders, as its CEO. The office will play a critical role in streamlining and accelerating regulatory approval processes, and attracting capital to our nation’s most significant projects.
“We have said for years, Canada needs bold, nation-building action to get major projects built more quickly, more efficiently, and with greater certainty,” says Adam Legge, President of the Business Council of Alberta. “Launching the Major Projects Office is a vital step in creating the conditions for growth and prosperity, and one our Council has recommended. Dawn Farrell is an exceptional choice for CEO, she brings decades of experience leading large, complex companies and projects with vision and integrity; and she has shown a commitment to exceptional public policy, including as one of the five founders of the Business Council of Alberta,” says Legge.
That this office is based in Alberta, the centre of Canada’s energy economy and home to world-class expertise in infrastructure and innovation, and the originator of many of Canada’s largest projects, is a recognition of Alberta’s role in building a stronger Canada.
The Council congratulates Dawn on this appointment and looks forward to working with her and the MPO to unlock the potential of major projects that create jobs, attract investment, and build both a strong Canada and a good life for all Canadians.
