PODCAST: Episode #72: The Brief: Define the Decade: Building Alberta’s Future—Together

When you think about a good life for you and your loved ones, what comes to mind?

Maybe it’s finding a community where you feel included and can contribute. Maybe it’s access to opportunity and the ability to realize your dreams. Or maybe it’s a chance to make the world a better place.

For Albertans, a good life comes down to these three things: Belonging, Opportunity, and Solutions.

And this is the future that Albertans envision for themselves. And it is this future that is at the heart of Define the Decade, a vision for long-term prosperity and a roadmap to achieve it.

The final report, released today by the Business Council of Alberta, puts everything together—research, interviews, studies of comparable jurisdictions, working sessions, focus groups, Big Idea submissions, and more—to present both the vision for Alberta’s future as well as the plan to get there—from the foundational pillars for success to mission-driven opportunities—to achieve this vision and create shared prosperity.

On this episode, Brittany and Adam discuss how—and why—this project started, Albertans’ vision for the future and what we need to do in order to achieve this vision.

In the spirit of truth, reconciliation, and respect, we honour and acknowledge the lands upon which we live and work as guests, including the traditional territories of the First Nations in Treaties 6, 7, and 8 and the citizens of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We thank the First Peoples of this land, which we now call Alberta, for their generations of stewardship of the land, and we seek to walk together in the spirit of truth and reconciliation to build a shared future for all in Alberta.
